Tree Stump Grinding
How Does It Work

How To Measure The Stump before Stump Grinding

But please contact us now and we can give you a free no obligation quote.

To do that we will need some information from you:

1. Size of the stump - How big/ wide your stump is:

First measure the diameter of the stump at the WIDEST point of the cut. This is the top of the stump. Next measure the diameter of the WIDEST point where the flare touches the ground. Large trees most often will have a significant flare at the base, so the diameter of the trunk flare will often be much greater than diameter at the cut.

Picture of stump taken from 4-5 meter distance is really helpful.

There is a minimum charge of £100 for stump up to 30cm in diameter. This price might change due to long travel distance.

2. Quantity:

How many stumps do you need ground out. We offer quantity discounts.

3. The species of the tree, if you know it:

This is important because certain species such as maple  and others often have an extremely large sub-surface root flare, so the entire area around the stump that is pushed up above grade will need to be ground. Also certain species of softwoods are much easier to grind than hardwoods. The larger the stump, the more important species identification is.

4. Access:

Our machines need 65cm (small Rayco RG13 ii) or 70cm (big machine Predator 38X) wide access all the way to the stump. Rayco RG13 can be lifted if there is an obstacle and the width is 65cm or more. Small machine is perfect for the jobs where there is not side access.

5. Location:

Where the stump is located. Middle of the lawn, by the fence, front or back garden raised flower bed. And of course your location/address.

Unfortunately as every job is different due to factors such as stump size and access to the stump it is not possible to say how much it will cost to remove your stump.
